It was only yesterday that the Kate Spade New York Spring / Summer 2016 collection was showcased but I am still feeling as though I was thrown into a garden full of beautifully scented flowers and colors. Outside the Kate Spade New York presentation yesterday, a balmy scent of almost 30,000 flowers doused the surrounding sidewalks. The sun, roses and chamomiles all took over to the carefree fresh world of garden wonderland that ruled the after-war world of fashion.
As expected, the numbers displayed were beyond bright: colorful doll-dresses, floral midi circle skirts, puritan-collar short roll-up-sleeve white shirts, horizontal-striped midi A-line and tube skirts of sequin and silk fabrics, pink floral bell-dresses with ruffled skirts as well as a black bold short guipure black dress, a lightweight chic floral overall and classic straight black ankle-length capris for stricter alternatives are some of the cutest pieces unveiled today. We cannot but get obsessed with the funny unique details like floral cutouts on the edges of the yellow monochrome dress, big red roses on black-and-white semi-strict matches, the cheerful writing on a black sweater, embroidery inserts, ice-cream-shape zippers and huge buns on the waistline and back neck part of some dresses.
Bags in this line are something we could talk about endlessly. There are classic clutches with rose embellishments and chamomiles on them, spacious beige square bags with fluffy trinkets, handy black-and-white and orange baguettes and doctor bags as well as crazy bags in the form of a Dalmatian puppy, blue teapot, a mini merry-go-round, a cartoon school-bus, a smiling bee and more. Once again we are assured that the signature bag-making of the Kate Spade brand is on top. This is the craziest or, better say, the liveliest thing, we have seen at New York Fashion Week spring 2016 so far.
