MFW : Versace Fall / Winter 2015-2016

The Versace Fall / Winter 2015-2016 collection that was presented on the runway earlier this week seemed to take much of its inspiration from the digital age we have entered, turning to the basics of coding and social media to pull together a show that would dazzle as well as leave an immense impression on the attendees and Versace fans alike. It was fun to see some of the digital age impressions on the pieces presented, including the use of “at” signs and hashtags on some of the evening dresses, rendered in sequins. The best part was that all the things that make Versace unique and that defined the brand were present, from the glamorous stylish to the immense sex appeal, along with the big hair and the towering heels.

If you take a close look at the collection, you’ll find that the reworked Grecian key design is especially interesting, appearing across the straps of the dresses, on the knitwear, the jacquard, even the bags and one particular pair of gloves. The evening dresses are short and sequined and have letters woven into their very fabric, Versace being spelled out when you put the pieces of the puzzle together. The footwear presented was also intriguing, when the asymmetrical hemmed coatdress was paired with thigh high red lacquer boots to really make the outfit pop and bring out the red slivers of the sweater worn underneath.

At the end of the day, it will not be easy to put this Versace collection out of our minds for awhile as it is truly a mesmerizing collection!
